A doorknob through the wall. A crack running up from the corner of a door frame. A water stain left behind after a leak. Damaged drywall is one of the most common things Calgary homeowners live with longer than they want to, usually because it seems like a small job that’s hard to get anyone out for.
Side Quest Projects is a locally owned Calgary handyman business, and drywall repair is one of our core services. With more than 25 years of construction experience, we fix the damage, blend the repair into the wall around it and leave the space ready for paint. We work in Calgary and nearby areas.
Drywall Repairs We Handle
If it’s on your list, it’s worth asking about.
- Holes, big and small. Anchor holes, doorknob holes, holes left from old TV mounts or moved shelving, and accidental damage from moving furniture.
- Dents, scratches and gouges. The everyday wear that builds up in hallways, stairwells and kids’ rooms.
- Nail pops and screw pops. Those small round bumps that show up when fasteners work loose. We reset or replace the fastener so the patch doesn’t just pop back out.
- Cracks. Hairline and taped-seam cracks, often found around doors, windows and ceiling joints.
- Water damage patches. We’ll look at and try to fix the source of the leak first, then cut out stained or soft drywall and patch in new material.
- Corner bead repair. Dented or cracked outside corners get repaired or re-beaded so the edge is straight and solid again.
- Texture matching. We blend the patch with the finish on your wall or ceiling so it doesn’t stand out.
- Replacing damaged sections. When a patch won’t do, we cut out the damaged area and install a new piece of drywall.
- Small drywall installations. New walls in a basement, closing in a space, or finishing part of a remodel.
How It Works
- Get in touch. Call (403) 827-9192 or send us a message. Photos of the damage help us understand the job. You can email them to sidequestprojects@proton.me.
- Free on-site quote. We’ll come out to look at the job, talk through what’s damaged and what the fix involves, and give you a free quote.
- We do the repair. We protect the area, then cut, patch, tape, mud and sand. Drywall compound needs drying time between coats, so some repairs take more than one visit. We’ll let you know up front.
- Finish and clean up. The repair is left smooth and ready for paint. If you’d like, we can also paint it so you’re not left with a patch of bare primer. We always clean up before we leave.
Why Choose Side Quest Projects
- 25+ years in construction. Drywall looks simple until you try to make a patch disappear. Experience is what gets the seams flat and the finish even.
- Locally owned in Calgary. You’re dealing with a local business, not a call centre.
- 5.0 rating on Google. Read our Google reviews.
- More than drywall. Since we also do interior painting, carpentry, flooring and other handyman work, we can repair the wall, paint it and take care of other jobs on your list in the same visit.
- Done with integrity. We’ll be straight with you about what the wall needs, and we treat your home with care while we work.
Drywall Repair FAQ
Can you match the paint after a drywall repair?
We prime and paint patches to blend with the rest of the wall. An exact colour match depends on having the original paint, so if you have leftover cans or the paint colour name, keep them handy. Painting the full wall usually gives the most even look, since older paint can fade over time.
Is it worth repairing a small hole, or should I wait until I have more work?
Either works. Lots of homeowners save up a few small repairs, like nail pops, anchor holes and a scuffed corner, and have them done all at once. We’re happy to take on small jobs.
What should I do about water-damaged drywall?
The leak needs to be dealt with before patching, because covering wet or still-leaking drywall can trap moisture. We’ll look at and try to fix the source of the leak first, then remove the damaged section and patch it. If we suspect mould, we’ll point it out and recommend next steps.
How long does a drywall repair take?
That depends on the size of the damage. Drywall compound needs time to dry between coats, so even a small patch can take more than one visit to finish properly. We’ll give you a timeline when we look at the job.
Do you work outside Calgary?
We serve Calgary and nearby areas. If you’re not sure whether you’re in our area, give us a call.
